For our second weekend in Italy, we decided to explore Florence. Although it was cloudy and a little rainy all weekend, Florence was still beautiful with more of a small town feel compared to Rome. While Rome made me feel more adventurous, Florence made me feel more at home. The city was very walkable and our Airbnb happened to be right next to Gucci and Prada…too bad we are all broke college kids.
We saw the Uffizi gallery and Piazzale Michelangelo for the most dramatic view of the city. We prayed inside the Duomo and were awed by the elaborate architecture of the building.
I was able to meet up with my two friends from my hometown in Connecticut which was amazing and crazy to think that we all came from the same tiny farm-town to beautiful Italy.
Florence is colorful, even on a cloudy day. Art can be found everywhere, from artworks by Da Vinci and Michelangelo to the way the reflections of the yellow, orange and pink houses reflected off the still water.
